While most people who go to Japan will flock to Kyoto and Tokyo, (and there's nothing wrong with that, as both places are amazing)...
There's a great alternative that is kind of a hidden charm in Japan.
That place is called Kanazawa, which is right on the coast near the Sea of Japan, and is about 2.5 hours bullet train ride from Tokyo.
It's one of the few places in Japan that has not been destroyed during the World War, so you will see many old historical landmarks still in tact.
In fact, Kanazawa has everything you can hope to find in Japan, such as a beautiful castle, a Samurai district, a Geisha district, a beautiful traditional garden (rated as the top 3 in Japan), and also a huge fresh seafood market.
In this video I found, it does a great job giving you a quick tour and history lesson of the place. You can watch it here:
What is your favorite part of Kanazawa?
Please share your thoughts, would love to hear from you!
