This is what I like about the towns in Japan near the river and mountain sides...
Often the river is the life blood of the community that gives them a source of fresh drinking water, as well as a place for the community to connect and bond with each other.
It's scenic...relaxing...and just so refreshing.
Here is one such town.
The river water is so clean, that literally beautiful Koi fish is swimming abundantly in their gutters!
I repeat...in the GUTTERS!
