Old Rural Japanese Town Populated With Scarecrows

Alec Chan ·

On the flip side of the country side of Japan, is that certain areas face a harrowing reality where there is a population decline.

With the aging population steadily increasing (about 30% of Japan's population are people aged 65 years or older), and more young people preferring to move into the big urban city areas,

Many small rural towns and villages are literally on the verge of being extinct because of this population decline.

But there is this one small rural Japanese village, where one of it's resident's decided to create scarecrow dolls to populate her village as a way to remember the past.

What started out as one scarecrow doll ...

Then became hundreds...

It is unbelievable!

Watch this documentary I found that goes in depth about this here and you'll be blown away!:

What do you think of this story?

Unbelievable right?

Enjoy!
